A perennial performer in Scotty’s mallet design catalogue, the new Phantom 5 stays true to its compact mallet configuration and blade-like feel with an updated, more modern shape, precision milled and engineered using a combination of 303 stainless steel and 6061 aircraft grade aluminium. Astute comparison to former versions reveals a straighter wing angle, while the updated topline includes elegantly milled sight dots machined and accented with translucent smoke paintfill for confident alignment over every putt.
Each component and contour of this tour-proven, near-face balanced mallet putter has been refined, as the solid stainless steel construction includes a dual-milled face texture and a one-piece body integrated with an updated, more rigid aluminium sole plate and stainless steel sole weights. For 2024, sound and feel were further enhanced, with 10% more vibration damping material repositioned between the steel and aluminium components for optimum performance. Fitted with a new paddle style grip, developed for new the Phantom line, the stepless steel shaft’s mid-bend is aimed directly down the target line and provides one shaft of offset for an advanced Phantom 5 that retains the traditional topline look at address of a blade, with the stability of a mallet.
FULL CONTACT GRIP
Each Phantom model features the new Full Contact paddle-style grip, custom-designed for the line. Tapered at both ends and uniquely shaped for optimal in-hand feel, this new grip is crafted at the ideal size, weight and form with a “chain link” texture reminiscent of the feel of the Tour-preferred “Baby T”, ensuring reliable contact with the putter in all weather conditions. The larger flat surface of the paddle assists the player’s face angle awareness at address, making squaring up to the ball easier.
REFINED THREE DOT ALIGNMENT
Three milled sight dots on the topline accented in translucent smoke with polished machined metal perimeters provide elegant yet subtle alignment cues that some players favour over solid lines on breaking putts, while the revamped wings frame the golf ball for confident alignment.
MID-BEND SHAFT TECHNOLOGY
The stepless steel custom-designed shaft has been engineered to minimise face rotation—or arc—in the putting stroke by incorporating a single “mid” bend aimed directly down the target line.
